My name is Afton Lewis, and I am a photographer based out of Washington State. I have lived here all my life, and I am so proud to call Washington home. I am a photographer specializing in natural-light photography. You won’t find a ton of photo-shop tricks in my work. I love capturing you- just the way that you are! I love photographing people who are romantic, people who are spontaneous, and people who are adventurous.

I didn’t always know that I wanted to take photographs. When I to college, I studied and received a BS in Geology. During this time I was fascinated with taking photos, of people, of places and of things that were going on around me.

I just thought I was documenting, and making sure that I had great provenance to go with my photographs. I spent 6  weeks on a field camp in New Zealand and on the last day I was looking through all my photos, thinking to myself I don’t have enough photographs” When I asked my friend how many she took she said, ‘600’ And when I checked my count it was well over 2,000. This moment should have been a clue as to my fascination with photography.

When my children were born I could no longer be an exploration geologist because of the long hours and demands on my time, so I once again picked up a camera. I quickly fell in love and have enjoyed it ever since. I am constantly learning new things, and I am always on the lookout for moments to capture. My love for the outdoors and nature translate into my photos. I love shooting outdoors, and especially somewhere with breathtaking views, that is always a plus.
